IPL Update

IPL - Indian Premier League - will now be held out of India.

With Indian government's non-supportive stand, BCCI has decided to move the second season of IPL outside India.

BCCI is in talks with other cricket boards to host the IPL. South Africa and England are most likely to host IPL this year.

BCCI Vice President and IPL Commissioner and Chairman Lalit Modi apologised to the Indian Cricket lovers for not being able to organise IPL in the country. He added that IPL schedule will not be changed and the matches would begin at 4 pm and 8 pm IST.

"I do not blame anyone for what has happened. Elections are much bigger."
- Lalit Modi, IPL Commissioner

"Happy that IPL is happening"
- Vijay Mallya, Owner, Bangalore Royal Challengers

Well whatever happens, IPL would be much fun to watch.... I mean cricket, not the cheerleaders.

Suggestion - IPL should be rechristened as OIPL (Out of India Premier League).... :D

P.S. : I'm supporting Rajasthan Royals this time too..... Which side are you?

  1. What can one say to such silly politics?A nation of 100 cr can not give security to IPL.It seems to have a lot to do with forthcoming elections and seat sharing.Sharad Pawar has sprung an unexpected surprise of shifting IPL to some other country.May be ,a lot will follow politically in the next 24 hrs.But I am ashamed.

  2. agreed..... even i'm ashamed at dis kind of politics....

and i somewhat agreed to what Gujarat CM Narendra Modi said....He said that with dis decision there's no difference between India and Pakistan.... We've given a message to the the world that like Pakistan, even India can't give protection to foreign players....

    Bizzarre....

  3. Even i thought that r they being sensible or what, just showing off they can't handle two situations, with one of hugest protection force..
Didn't they considered the fact that how much revenue they would have earned with IPL in india.

  4. @ raashi -
yes, its really disgusting that India, with a huge security force, is not in a position to provide security to the cricket fans and 200 odd cricketers..... Are we bowing down to the terrorists even before they have struck???
