Is Madame Sonia the REAL PM?

Before anybody tags me as an anti-Congress blogger, I'd like to clear the air by saying that I'm just expressing my opinion as a NEUTRAL Indian citizen.

What I've been observing since the last few years is that the inauguration of many mega-projects by the Central government or any of the governments of states ruled by the Congress have been done by the UPA Chairperson and Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi. I have sheer respect for the lady. She has achieved a lot. But the only question pops up in my mind is that why only Mrs Sonia Gandhi? This question again started making rounds when she'll be inaugurating the much awaited 5.6 km long Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai today.

She isn't the President, nor Vice-President, not the Prime Minister, neither a Chief Minister nor a minister in any of the government, then WHY she? Why can't the President Mrs Pratibha Patil or even the Vice-President Dr Hameed Ansari do the honours.

Just 'coz Mrs Gandhi is the president of the ruling party (at both the Centre and the state), this doesn't mean that she keeps on inaugurating all the mega-projects. If anybody says that she's an MP, then I have got an answer for you too. Okay, she's an MP from Raebareilly (Uttar Pradesh). Then why is she getting involved in projects in Mumbai or in other states. I do not doubt her intentions, but it seems like something which is not traditional. I mean that a person who isn't holding any post in the government, who isn't a part of the government DIRECTLY is doing what a President or a PM should do. Then why she doesn't become one? Why not become a Prime Minister and do the same?

And if not the President or Vice-President, the Prime Minister or the Governor or the Chief Minister could have inaugurated it. If this continues to happen then within a few years, there will be numerous foundation/inauguration stones bearing the name of Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Then there wouldn't be much difference between her and UP CM Mayawati. Maya Memsaab keeps laying foundation and inauguration stones where she likes. Recently she is in trouble when the honourable Supreme Court issued her a show-cause notice over a similar issue.

This was a question that compelled me to think. I just thought that I'd share it with my readers. I'd like to know what you think about it. Comments awaited.

  1. Ankit, you have raised a very valid question. She not only is powerful, she is the real super PM.There was a time even I used to get carried away...I am not a congressman.....Now I have realised that we 100 cr spinless people deserve this to happen to us.The family has full control over the party, their MPs,their CMs,the industrial sector and there is no area where they do not have control. So long as the party(out of fear)has no objection and all other functionaries mentioned by you are speechless,we must accept her in the avtar.Rest time will decide

well.... today in India, POWER means just one family - The (Nehru) Gandhi family... and the ORIGINAL Gandhi family (of Mahatma Gandhi) is out of the frame....

I think that Mrs Gandhi wants to take all the CREDIT without taking any RESPONSIBILITY on her shoulders DIRECTLY.... today if anything is happening perfectly alright, the 'leadership' of Mrs Sonia-ji is given the credit.... and if something goes haywire, then ppl condemn 'Manmohan Govt'... INDIANS stop having double standards....

Thanks for the comments sir :)

yeah.... even Mananiya Rahul-ji seems eager to join the bandwagon.... its he wo will be passed the baton.... its this 39-year YOUNG leader who will inherit everything from her mom...

  7. Hi,

I agree about the inauguration part.As far as Sonia Gandhi is concerned at least the family is better off then BJP where they themselves r not sure what they have to do..
Congress has brought some development in the country but for that they can not be given such unearthly importance.
Also,What i think is comparing sonia and with Mayawati is just not justified its just like u r comparing achievement of a 2nd grad student with a 12th grade student.Mayawati outshines sonia in exploiting hard earn money of public by building parks which cost some 100 crores. She takes bribe from every one possible albeit indirectly..
Sonia got no allegation like this so Sonia aunty have to really slog more to attain Maya like achievement.

Thanks for the comment..... I agree that the BJP in today's context still finding its goal.... Its confused whether to remain on Hindutva issue or move away from it.... Plus it is also missing the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.... And i believe that be it any government, they all work for development..... And each one excels its predecessor coz wat their predecessors did was appropriate at their time..... So wat a new govt does looks like novelty n better than the earlier one..... And its an infant stage for Sonia-ji..... If she continues this stuff, she'll have to face more comparisons wid Mayawati.....

  9. Who is the real power centre in India, either it is Sonia Gandhi or Manmohan Singh?

thats where the real question lies....

  11. nice thought..
but as far as her ruling at the center is concerned..she was about to become the PM when the opposition blamed her of being a foreigner so she gave the chance to Dr.Manmohan Singh ... there's no question of her not being the ruler...she very well rules the center by her policies...

Thanks for d comment..... I'd like to correct ur statement here..... The opposition did not 'BLAME' her of being a foreigner..... She is of a foreign origin and the opposition 'OPPOSED' her as PM because of her foreign origin..... but still she's the ultimate power centre....
